Volunteers for Our Common Place project
London
Waste Watch is currently piloting an innovative community project on estates across 8 London boroughs. The project has a recycling focus, but is taking a broader approach seeking to build community strength and sustainability.
Our Common Place is led by the community for the community with Waste Watch Flats Engagement Officers acting as facilitators. We are recruiting volunteers to join the community partnership groups we are establishing on each estate. As a member of this group, volunteers are likely to be involved in several activities from doorstepping and action planning, to the marketing and facilitation of workshops, meetings and swap shops.
Ideally we would like volunteers who live locally to the estates we are working with. Our Common Place is running in the following boroughs:
Barking and Dagenham
Redbridge
Havering
Lambeth
Kensington and Chelsea
Hammersmith and Fulham
Wandsworth
City of London
If you live in any of the boroughs listed and would like to gain community engagement experience and contribute to a ‘next practice’ sustainability project, please contact the Our Common Place Team Leader Morgan Phillips: morgan.phillips@wastewatch.org.uk 0207 549 0317.
