Waste Watch runs training workshops for anyone who wants to learn, and communicate with others, about sustainability issues.

We offer a range of one day and half-day bespoke workshops and training events for local authority staff, teachers, community leaders and professionals working in the sustainability sector.

Our workshop and training sessions are designed to meet your identified and specific training needs.

We can deliver training in the areas of:

Education
Communications
Community engagement.

We can also deliver sessions combining various aspects of these areas.
 
Our trainers will come to your organisation's office, or venue of your choice, to train your staff. Alternatively, we can deliver courses in our training rooms in London.

Education

Learn how to deliver environmental education programmes in primary and secondary schools that inform and engage pupils. We look at:

• Learning in theory and practice
• Effective teaching techniques and classroom management
• The value of different education activities and developing your own
• How to support schools in overcoming barriers
• Understanding various approaches to monitoring and evaluating

Participants will also receive a supporting teacher resource pack.

Communications

Find out how to produce effective communications for your audience. Topics covered include:

• How to plan and publicise your campaign
• A guide to good writing
• Knowing your audience
• Branding and the art of good design
• Working with designers
• Using digital media and writing for web

Community Engagement

Providing you with the practical tools you need to help you deliver tailored messages that engage with different audiences and bring about behaviour change. Learn about:

• Behaviour change, value change and social marketing
• Skills, knowledge and capacity building
• Targeting different audiences and using volunteers
• Planning events and avoiding common pitfalls
• Monitoring and evaluating success

We also run training to support recycling service changes and other local campaigns for:

• waste and recycling collection crews;
• reuse and recycling centre staff;
• street scene staff and enforcement officers; and  
• doorstepping teams.
