Improving organisation sustainability
Any organisation, be it a local authority, business or charity, will have an impact on the environment; from the resources it consumes and waste it produces to the food and transport choices it makes.
There is huge potential across the private, public and third sectors to change the way we do business and, in so doing, improve efficiency, save money, reduce waste, and improve staff and customer satisfaction.
This change is being driven by customers, partners and employees who now consider green and ethical credentials when deciding where to do business and where they want to work.
Our approach
We help improve an organisation’s sustainability by:
- building capacity so an organisation can continue the good work after we’ve left
- monitoring baseline data and focusing on the biggest wins
- getting management buy-in and encouraging staff to play their part
- making the experience fun and challenging, but achievable.
Any upfront investment is soon realised through long-term benefits such as: reduced operating costs; improved external reputation; and a more committed staff team.
Our work
We helped TK Maxx improve recycling and reduce waste across their business. An initial audit showed that recycling facilities, communications and staff participation needed to be improved, and that simple changes could make a big difference. We trained TK Maxx to engage their own staff through presentations, signage and a training DVD.
