Energy Auditing

The first step in improving a school’s environmental performance begins with an energy audit.

By reducing a school’s energy use, you can cut carbon emissions and save your school money through lower energy bills.

Our approach

A whole-school approach is key to success in a school’s journey to sustainability.

By this we mean involving everyone in the school community; from pupils and teachers to non-teaching staff, parents and local community groups.

The payoff is greater than a small team or an individual taking sole responsibility. It also means schools are more likely to achieve their goals, and maintain momentum.

Our work

Since 2007, we’ve worked with schools in and around London to support them to become sustainable.

With our support a cluster of six schools in Wandsworth have worked together to reduce their energy use, carbon emissions and bills. The savings accrued have encouraged them to step up their efforts to also address water and waste. After just one year, one of the schools received an award for its achievements.

Recently we’ve also been working directly with another London-based secondary school to develop and implement a long-term environmental improvement plan. The school hopes to learn more about how an on-site coordinator may accelerate and sustain their aspiration of becoming a sustainable school.
