Co-operative customers vote for Waste Watch
14 December 2007
Co-operative Bank customers have voted to support our work through a donation from the Bank's Customers Who Care campaign.
Waste Watch received 26% of the vote and came top from a list of organisations working to tackle climate change. The donation from customers will support the Waste Watch 'New School: New Environment' project which will teach young people about new, sustainable patterns of behaviour that will help them prevent climate change.
Melanie Phillips, Campaign Manager at the Co-operative Bank, says: "We are delighted to support Waste Watch's environmental work with young people through this donation. Educating the next generation about the need to live more sustainably is absolutely critical if we are to tackle climate change effectively."
The project provides stimulating educational experiences for children and staff enabling them to put practical and inspirational solutions at the heart of school life. The result is a more sustainable school and heightened environmental awareness in the surrounding community.
