Waste Watch backs Future Friendly Awards
25 September 2007
Waste Watch is backing a new award scheme, which recognises and celebrates local heroes who have helped and inspired people to live more sustainable lives.
The Future Friendly Award scheme is a partnership initiative between well-known household brands and leading sustainability experts.
There are four Future Friendly Award categories: Waste Watch's Local Champion Award, The Energy Saving Trust's Community Action Award, Waterwise's Innovation Award, and Global Cool's Creativity Award.
Sam Jarvis, Head of Communications at Waste Watch, says there are many local heroes whose ideas deserve wider dissemination. "We are looking for a person who has inspired others to make changes. We know from research that what's really important in encouraging people to live more sustainably is to show environmentally friendly practices in an everyday context. If people see that their neighbours and work colleagues are already making more sustainable choices, they too will make positive changes to their own lifestyle."
To enter someone that has inspired you to be more environmentally aware log on to www.futurefriendly.co.uk and nominate them now. Entries close 30 November.
