Waste Watch appoints two new trustees
16 February 2010
Julia Hailes MBE and Matt McDowell have recently been appointed to the Waste Watch Board of Trustees.
Matt McDowell is the Marketing Director for Toshiba, Northern Europe, and brings expertise in communications, brand management and product development to the board.
"Waste Watch is rethinking its approach to some really critical issues," Matt said. "My commercial experience will help guide their approach to helping businesses reduce their waste and use their resources wisely."
Julia Hailes describes herself as a 'campaigning consultant' and has worked with many leading companies, including Marks & Spencer, Morrisons and McDonalds. She is the author of nine books, including the million-selling Green Consumer Guide. She also co-founded SustainAbility, a leading environmental consultancy and think tank.
Julia says: "I'm really delighted to be joining the Waste Watch board. I'm particularly interested in the new Waste Watch strategy, which puts less emphasis on recycling and more on reducing the amount we consume - we should be making the most of what we have."
Julia and Matt join Matthew Bennett (Chair); Silvia Levi (Treasurer); Peter Jones, Andrew Lappage; Professor Ian Williams; and Matt Prosser to make up the Waste Watch Board of Trustees.
