Resource Waste Management Summit

18 November 2009

The inaugural Resource Waste Management Summit takes place on 9-10 February 2010 at Olympia, London.

The event, organised by Materials Recycling Weekly, promises to be a great opportunity for all those involved in waste and resource management to network and pick up useful advice and tips.

Whether you work for a local authority or within the private sector, and whether your interest is in retail, construction or zero waste, there is bound to be something for you. As well as getting up to speed with ever-changing legislation, it will provide practical guidance from those who are leading the way in waste collection, disposal, processing and communications.

On the first day, Waste Watch's Head of Communications, Sam Jarvis, will be providing advice during a panel session called 'The battle for hearts and minds: getting the message across'. The session, chaired by LARAC's Joy Blizzard, will cover: how to change resident behaviour; how to present the benefits of recycling; and how to deal with bad press.

Other sessions during the two-day conference include:

  1. Government strategy for recycling, waste and resource efficiency
  2. Reviewing and updating current and emerging UK legislation
  3. Getting the recycling and waste message across to the UK population
  4. Maintaining demand for recyclables and waste materials in the UK and overseas
  5. RWM Waste Team Challenge - working with peers to deliver waste objectives
