Using a bicycle wired up to an electricity generator may seem like a peculiar way to explain the benefits of recycling, but our new interactive resource proves that a cycling challenge can bring the benefits of recycling to life.
The resource allows participants to compare the lifecycle of products made from raw materials with those made from recycled materials and explore the global chain of manufacturing, refinery and supply. Participants are then challenged to hop on the bike to see if they can pedal fast enough to generate the amount of energy required for each process. We have received amazing feedback from adults and young people about the Cycle-Recycle Bicycle Generator and its ability to explain something complex to people in a fun, real life way.
