School Food Waste and Composting

Aim
You will learn educational, hands-on activities you can use in primary and secondary schools to help reduce food waste and encourage composting both at home and at school.

Suitable for
Waste education officers and environmental educators who have already undertaken our Schools Waste Action Club training or have some basic schools experience and want to expand their skills to include running food waste and composting activities.

What you will learn
By the end of the day you will be able to:

  • run fun, educational school activities around food waste and composting at home and at school; and
  • monitor and evaluate the success of your school activities.

Content
The day covers:

  • interactive activities to reduce food waste;
  • learning about composting and worms;
  • how to make waste-free lunches;
  • making clever shopping choices; and
  • starting composting at your school.
