Waste Watch share tricks of the trade at conferences

10 June 2008

Waste Watch is delighted to be presenting at leading waste industry and sustainable communications conferences this year.

At LARAC 2008 in Telford, director of Waste Watch Peter Robinson will follow Environment Minister Joan Ruddock's keynote speech with a presentation about the relationship between waste and climate change. He will discuss the importance of waste and how we can overcome the association of waste with affluent societies.

At today's CIWM conference, Programme Manager Alys Dunn will be showcasing Waste Watch's experience in community engagement. Alys will also provide tips and best practice approaches for achieving behavioural change through social marketing.

Commenting on the subject, Alys said: "A community outreach approach is invaluable in achieving real and long lasting behaviour change. Some of our past projects are shining examples of how qualitative community outreach can engage people and empower them by demonstrating how their actions can really make a difference."

On 9 July, Waste Watch Head of Communications, Sam Jarvis, will be part of a panel of experts at the PR Green Communications Conference. Along with WWF, Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth, Sam will draw on Waste Watch's work with the Co-operative Group, Procter and Gamble and TK Maxx in debating the relationship between large corporations and NGOs, how to create an amicable platform for information sharing, and what the future of green business holds.
