Secondary School Waste Education

Aim
To equip experienced waste educators with an effective programme of activities for engaging secondary school pupils and staff.

Suitable for
Waste educators who have completed our Schools Waste Action Club training or who have experience of delivering school programmes.

Learning outcomes
By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • conduct interactive secondary school assemblies;
  • run engaging activities around waste in secondary schools;
  • engage secondary school staff and parents; and
  • effectively monitor the school's progress.

Content
This training course will help waste educators raise awareness among secondary school pupils and staff about waste issues and bring about waste reduction at school.

The day will cover:

  • general principles of effective secondary waste education;
  • how to run secondary school assemblies;
  • engaging secondary school pupils in activities;
  • running lunch-time stalls;
  • preparing parent evenings; and
  • undertaking staff consultations.
