Aim
To equip new waste educators with a proven, ready-to-use schools programme which has been the benchmark of schools waste education in the UK since the early nineties.

Suitable for
Ideal for new waste education officers and individuals taking on schools-based waste education, who have already undertaken our Inspiring Change training or have some basic schools experience.

Learning outcomes
By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • conduct interactive school assemblies;
  • lead a variety of class-facing activities; and
  • monitor and evaluate the success of your school visits.

Content
The course is aimed at primary schools, but can easily be adapted to suit secondary schools. This programme has reliably halved the residual waste tonnages in participating schools. SWAC can also help deliver Doorway 4 of the Sustainable Schools National Framework and actively facilitates the seven elements of Eco-Schools.

The day will cover:

  • assemblies;
  • programme strategy and booking logistics;
  • action planning;
  • papermaking;
  • waste audits; and
  • staff meetings.
