Creating Social Change - 22 March 2012
19 December 2011
The Waste Watch Annual Conference 2012 will explore and debate how people, communities and businesses could lead us towards a fairer, greener and happier society.
Featuring leading researchers and practitioners including Tom Compton (WWF) and Andrew Darnton (Independent Researcher), this conference will bring together individuals and organisations from different sectors to illustrate why we need to work together on a new approach to achieve a deeper social change for sustainability.
What will the conference achieve?
We are inviting you to join us to help answer pressing questions such as:
- If incentives, nudges and voluntary deals are not the right way to encourage sustainable lifestyles, is something more profound required?
- How could an approach based on values and citizenship create a collective movement and demand for change?
- What can civil society do collectively to bring well-being, equality and the environment from the sidelines to a common cause at the forefront of governmental objectives?
Through the day we will debate how it is possible to work collectively across sectors to bring about the deeper social changes we believe are necessary. We will present inspiring examples of both research and practitioners at the forefront of the movement to create long-term changes in collective societal values, behaviours and lifestyles. Plenty of opportunities for debate, questioning and reflection will be provided.
